The Role of Water in Your Weight Loss Journey

As with a good diet plan and an exercise schedule, drinking clean fresh water is an essential part of any weight loss plan.

In this article we will look at some facts about exactly why it is important to drink water when exercising. We will also discover some of  the negative effects that you may experience if you consume insufficient amounts of water.

As a bonus I've included some facts and myths about the importance of Water, which I believe can serve as a motivation.

These various facts make it important to always drink water when losing weight.

Reasons Why You Should Not Forget Water for Your Weight Loss Resolution

One of the main reasons why you must drink water when dieting is that this can help you avoid dehydration. Initial weight loss is caused by loss of water. You need to drink a sufficient amount of water for you to stay hydrated.  The process of burning fats and calories also requires a sufficient supply of water for your  body to work efficiently. You have to keep in mind that dehydration reduces the process of fat-burning.

Once you have burned calories, you create toxins like an exhaust coming out of your car. Due to this, water plays an important role in flushing toxins out of your body.  If you try to weight loss to build abs and muscles, water helps in maintaining muscle tone through assisting muscles in their ability to contract and this lubricates your joints. With proper hydration, you will be able to reduce muscle as well as joint soreness when exercising.

I have seen that many people like to drink processed drinks like coca cola or Sprite after a long walk from point a to point b. Some even open a cold beer to cool themselves off. What they don't realize is that these drinks tend to add more calories to the body. At the same time, after walking long distances carbonated drinks or beverages and beers produce toxins that can be harmful to their health in the long term.

According to studies published by health experts, beverages and alcohol is responsible for weight gain amongst other things.

When you're on a weight loss journey, it is advisable that you strictly stick to clean fresh water, and significantly decrease your intake of carbonated drinks or beverages and beers, as these will hinder your progress.

Many people are aware that a healthy weight loss revolves around having a good amount of fiber. But without water, your weight loss efforts will never be successful as you might experience constipation.

Constipation occurs because there is an insufficient amount of Water in your system to facilitate healthy bowel movements.

Facts and Myths about Water

This may not be the right place to say this, but below are some widely accepted facts about Water;

  1. The human body is largely composed of Water. About 75% of the human body, to be precise.

  1. Water keeps the human body fresh. Personally I find it difficult to carry on with other daily activities and household chores if I had not taken a shower for a day. I smell, I feel drowsy, and I can not sleep at nights.

  1. Water is significant within the various religious contexts in many cultures of the world. Many religions and cultures use water in certain rituals, especially in rituals symbolizing purification and rebirth. If you are a Christian you may recall that Christians are baptized with water. This symbolizes rebirth or simply said, being born again.

You may wonder why I have included these myths  and facts as they have nothing to do with losing weight? On the contrary it has everything to do with losing weight healthily.

These are simply additional items to give you a fair idea about the significance of Water, not just for losing weight, but also for a healthy lifestyle as a whole.

Water keeps the body healthy and free from toxins that would otherwise cause harm to your health.

Conclusion

So as you go on your weight loss journey, make sure to drink clean fresh water to keep yourself hydrated. Insufficient consumption of water will cause dehydration and constipation which are harmful to your health.
